How To Brick A Yaesu FT-991A…

…Diligently upgrade it with Yaesu FT-991 *NOT ALPHA* firmware…

The end result of uploading the wrong firmware was that the radio still seemed to work fine, but the spectroscope/waterfall no longer functioned. Nearly sent it back to Yaesu for warranty repair! Luckily reinstalling the correct firmware fixed it right up (and only took me three plus hours to figure out what the problem was…)

Of note, the pic at the top is of a QRZ.com thread I came across describing the issue I had, but apparently for a separate reason, like blowing out the front end of the radio or destroying the SDR module. Who knows? In any case, all’s well that end’s well, and my love of my Yaesu transceivers continues…
